My transition into babywearing began personally with the birth of my first child. Like many new parents, I discovered that carrying my baby was the most practical way to navigate the day while maintaining a deep physical connection. However, as a physiotherapist, I couldn’t help but view the experience through a clinical lens. I saw firsthand how the right wrap or carrier could either support or strain both the parent’s posture and the infant’s developing spine.
This dual perspective—as a mother and a clinician—led me to become a certified Babywearing Consultant in 2017. I realized that while the emotional benefits of closeness are intuitive, the physical sustainability of carrying a growing child requires specific ergonomic knowledge. My goal is to move families beyond the “aches and strains” often accepted as part of early parenthood. By blending physiotherapy principles with safe carrying techniques, I help parents discover how to carry their children with confidence, ensuring the practice is as comfortable for the adult as it is secure for the child.
In the posts below, I share insights on preventing strain during babywearing, making simple adjustments for long-term comfort, and choosing the right support for every stage of your child’s growth.
